Generator christmas cards

A God given marketing opportunity or just the time to have a bit of fun with design and ideas. Either way the Christmas card brings with it days of frustration to find something new.

PAUL NICHOLLS

I love Christmas and giving cards is all part of it. I’ve always said Christmas is ‘a God given marketing opportunity’ although I do feel with the ever increasing number of HTML e-mail Christmas wishes flying around a level of sincerity has been lost and the true purpose of the card is disappearing under a drift of Christmas special offers and last minute deals.

Generator Christmas Cards

It’s looking like the next few Christmases are going to be orange
December 2011

Each year we immerse ourselves in Christmas carols, festive stories and perennial TV favourites in an attempt to draw out some new and unique twist on the Christmas card. We do this for many of our clients but it’s our Christmas card that always presents us with the biggest challenge. In the interests of a ‘great and memorable card’ we've been photographed wearing Wizard of Oz costumes, big woolly Christmas jumpers, dressed a greyhound as a reindeer and undergone a reportage style photo shoot whilst on a Christmas pub crawl.

The last few years have found us with a slightly more sober approach and we've enjoyed looking in to the more orange side of Christmas. For those who haven’t been on the receiving end of a Generator Christmas card here's a couple of our latest.

Perhaps these ideas are a little more educational than usual, but there’s always a little twist. This one was all about the pomander and why we stuck cloves in to oranges at Christmas, oh and yes, we had just moved our studio in to ‘The Orangery’.

And then our most recent card was all about spreading a little orange at Christmas. Why do we put oranges in to the Christmas stockings? It's all to do with remembering St. Nicholas giving gold to a needy old man who could not afford his daughters dowry.

We hope you like our little Christmas designs and that you have a super Christmas and New Year. We look forward to spreading a little more orange next year!
